that's when it turned on me

that's when it turned on me
a motorcade of 'meant to be's
parades of beauty queens
where soft entwines make kindling
these many detailed things
like broken nails and plastic rings
will win by keeping me
from speaking to my new darling
and there's no way to know
our future foe scenarios
that's when it turned on me
where bobby pins hold angel wings

it's alright

sunday photo shoots in the sun, because we can.

just how you asked

We did things just how you asked
Don't try taking us to task
Didn't bite a face, no just a mask
So happy Halloween!

[Guilty cocker spaniels by Modest Mouse]

Spent the past weekend in Phila with my old crew. Seems like years ago that I stepped foot on that dirty campus and at points during my stay it seemed like I was so far away from that life right now. 4 months away and 5 more to go until I return to campus for good, the college life awaits me then, but now I live in such freedom and this living currently is more than I could ever have asked for. Let me delight in this adulthood since too soon I will return to those young faces new and old.

warm inside

As the rain fell hard upon the cold concrete outside, inside we laughed about our love lives and tried on Halloween costumes.
With our 'Hot Toddy' scented candle burning and chocolates sitting elegantly in wine glasses, we were warm for a moment in each others company.

Just another day at work!

MARTHAMARTHAMARTHA

Went to the Martha Stewart Show taping today. We got a day off of work to go! I never thought I would be so close to Martha. It was quite exciting. Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud was a guest on the show and he made everyone in the audience cheese puffs to enjoy! Yum.

The show airs this Friday at 10am on the Hallmark channel! Perhaps I make a guest appearance in the audience.
Watch and find out.

Tea & Sympathy

Had a nice relaxing tea date with my friend and fellow intern at Tea & Sympathy on Greenwhich Ave. She had previously studied abroad in Scotland and I of course am fresh from being in London so it made us both very nostalgic of our past UK lives.
I ordered Vietnamese French Vanilla tea and scones with clotted cream and jam.
It was wonderful to just sit and talk in this teeny hole in the wall and let the bustle of the city fade away into nothingness in the distance.

Cheers to moments of calm and cosiness [UK spelling] in the midst of the roar.

heart, stop hunting

Nicole L. Hill for Fashion Gone Rogue

The War Inside.

Rest your cheek, for a moment,

on this drunken cheek.

Let me forget the war and cruelty inside myself.

I hold these silver coins in my hand;

give me Your wine of golden light.

You have opened the seven doors of heaven;

now lay Your hand generously on my tightened heart.

All I have to offer is this illusion, my self.

Give it a nickname at least that is real.

Only you can restore what You have broken;

help my broken head.

I’m not asking for some sweet pistachio candy,

but Your everlasting love.

Fifty times I’ve said,

"Heart, stop hunting and step into this net."

It had to happen sometime

Today was the first time I ever cooked Chicken!
Growing up in a Vegetarian home, I never had the chance to learn how to cook meat so when I went off to college, I just never made it for myself...

Today I decided to bite the bullet and I made myself chicken with caramelized onions and apples.

It was quite delicious and much easier than I had anticipated.

my busy days

,

This week has been a whirlwind of exciting events, parties, photo shoots and many intern errands.

It started off on Tuesday night with the store opening of C.Wonder, Chris Burch's new store [Tory Burch's ex-husband] in Soho. It was quite the swanky event. The Dj was Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, and socialites and celebrities mingled in the crowed.

Wednesday was an exciting day as we prepared and styled an apartment in the West Village [last two photos above] for a Ralph Lauren Home intimate Black Tie Party hosted by Lonny Magazine and sponsored by the Champagne Company Veuve Cliquot.

Lastly on Friday I was called to style a Christmas tree for a holiday shoot we are doing on Susan Becher's beautiful apartment. It was an exciting task but the tree was really unstable and after styling it all, I left the room and it came crashing down...Thanks to the wonderful PR associates at Susan Becher we re-stabled the tree, and it was ready for it's photoshoot.

Beautiful pictures of the new C.Wonder store, the RL event and Susan Becher's Holiday apartment can be found in Lonny's Holiday and Entertaining issue out on November 10!

Pinterest

all you need is a little inspiration...

If you haven't checked out Pinterest yet, you must.

It is a virtual pin board where people can 'pin' images that they like or are inspired by that they find online. Other people can view those items and link them to their own board. It seems silly but it is actually a great way to keep inspiration images without them crowding up one's desktop.

I just started with Pinterest but you can follow my boards to see what is inspiring me now by clicking on the button below.

Tia showing us the new Ice cream T's

The other day the Lonny Interns went on adventure to the KicoKids showroom.
We met founder Tia Cibani and heard all about the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Tia is the former creative director for Ports 1961, a wonderful fashion brand.

KicoKids is just about the cutest children's clothing line I have seen in awhile and I wish I was still able to prance around in little tutus and knit tops inspired by insects...

GREEN PASTURES

GREEN PASTURES ,WHERE HAVE YOU GONE?

Remembering those days when I sat high up on the mountain top, with the wind viciously dancing among my auburn curls. I recall the sensation of clarity. Moments of sheer delight.
I saw beauty in that green, oneness in the running hills.

This is Ireland.

To me, I felt the tortures of the past and the triumphs of tomorrow on the blistered streets of Dublin. Foot soldiers tramped across the same green green pastures defending their country that never had much love.

All this I recall.

To a country that I might have misunderstood, I say a thank you.

And now, in my nostalgia, I can say clearly, I miss that rugged culture, the Baileys coffee nights and the little sheep grazing on the pastures near and far.
